Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

what if I need money NOW? I was wondering what everyone is doing now for money? =/ What is your job now? I'm almost desperate enough to join the coast guard for 4 yrs...I'm happy for those getting into the nursing program...after waiting 2 to 3 or 4 years....but I denno..that seems long. What do you think? Will the waiting lists and competitiveness die down after 4 yrs? or just the same as it is today?

I'm not getting any younger, no one is. But I can't be living at home for another 5 yrs. Are you guys using student loans as well? :o

what do you think?

What are you currently doing with your life? You asked a pretty big question without divulging anything about yourself :).

I know how you feel. I want to be a nurse too, but can't afford to not work full time. I wanted to go for LPN to start, and found a great vocational school that offered a night/weekend LPN program. But I ran into funding issues. Construction in FL has hit a major slow down and my hours were cut back from 40 to 32 so of course $ is tight right now, (I'm a secretary at a pool company) but I still did not qualify for financial aid. Instead I am registering for the CNA Program. It only takes a few months to finish and cost MUCH less. While I'm not thrilled about taking a smaller step, at least I'm still moving forward. I figure at least it is a foot in the door and I can make $$ while I plan on how to move forward in Nursing.

 Perhaps you might consider doing something like this while waiting to get into a Nursing program

Whatever you decide... dream big, and achieve even bigger

Best of luck and don't give up. There's always a way to reach a goal even if the path takes longer

I too have had my fair share of wanting to be a nurse blues..... I've been trying since '02 @ that time i was working as a cna and lived @ home. it's always going to seem hard obstacles are always going to rear their ugly heads but @ the end of the day the ? is how much do u really want it? go for it throw caution to the wind eat hot dogs, crackers, noodle soup to survive and my friend when those 4 years are up and school is over you will be a new person and have a career.:up::up:
