I want to be an NP!

Published

10+ year PA-C

tired of a mostly ineffective PA lobby

Really want to become a NP to allow myself to set up my own practice and bill directly - out patient primary care

Issue is I have no nursing training but have a PA, AAS, BS, MBA and MS

Is there any thoughts on a way to become an NP with out going through the huge expense (time and $$) of LPN-->RN-->NP?

seems like a great opportunity for a national challenge exam or a bridge program for PA's with a masters to become NP's.....

thoughts???

You can do a 1-year accelerated BSN program designed for those with previous degrees. Upon completion of the accelerated program, you can enter a MSN program.

Or, you can do a direct entry NP program designed for those with no nursing experience.

I do not know if you were previously aware of this, but people do not have to complete the LPN step in order to become a nurse. They can directly pursue the RN license without ever having become an LPN.

is their distance learning programs that this can be done through? I work full time and can not afford (nor want to ) return to school full time.

honestly the DNP is the next logical career step for me to gain independence instead of 7 years of med school, 200,000 in debt and 1m in lost wages..... all to do what I do now with independence....

Yes, there are online programs for the NP. I recall reading about them on these forums. However, a Google search would probably yield some good information.
