I have been working in healthcare for over 7 long years. I have been a CNA 6 of those years. I am at the point that I just can do this job any more . The staff and the family members are just so belittling. I have a lot to offer a healthcare facility and I love helping people and I have great customer service experience do anyone know and other job I should try in healthcare while I attempting to finish my degree.?
I think it depends on where you're working. My little sister LOVES geriatrics more than anyone I've ever met in my life and I've been a nurse for 9 years. However, she only worked at assisted living facilities/SNFs her first few years and was constantly frustrated and upset because of numerous things (the care allowed, the staff who clearly didn't want to be there, the slackers, the bedsores from pts not being cared for properly, having to bring her own gloves to work, etc). I told her for a year to get out and get to the hospital I worked at right out of school, she got a job in the rehab area, and is SO much more happy! Not saying there aren't rotten people wherever you choose, but long term care and SNF work is NOT for everybody.
I hope you find something else or another job soon! xo

Preach it! I'm a MA that has worked as a PCT and as a Monitor Tech. I'm currently at the very beginning of pre req's for nursing, but I have cold feet with the same concerns as you and I've seen many examples of what DoeRN is saying. I grew up wanting to be a nurse since before I was in the second grade... I have the opportunity to go to college debt free because of my previous enlistment. However, I'm looking into becoming a pharmacist. I love helping people, but I know what is before me. Trust me, DoeRN is right on.
