Hello Nurses!
I would like to move to LA from New Zealand and have a couple of process questions.
I am a comprehensively trained Registered Nurse in my country and currently work in Mental Health. I have a post graduate certificate in health science.
I am wondering
a) what I need to do to be able to work in LA as a mental health and or addictions nurse?
b) where would be the best place to work?
c) what's the deal with health insurance and having a child? (would he be covered)
d)what is the pay like?
e) What are the high schools like?
Thanks locals

Well if you are looking to be a mental health nurse Hollywood is the place. It like a big bowl of granola (Nut, flakes and other crunchy, chewy bits) But seriously the it's not all glam like you see on TV. The streets and filthy with a large homeless population. I don't know how the pay compares to what you make now but would likely be around $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 a year for a new hire. New to new health care reform laws in the country all employers must off insurance and that would cover dependents like children as well. The employee makes a contribution as well - I have great health insurance for my whole family (Spouse and Child) which runs $450.00 every two weeks.Hppy

I heard LA has turned into that, I also understand it is becoming a barrio also..
