I am attending Walden U RN to MSN Leadership track. I am only in the first semster however I am really thinking I should have gone the NP route. I love leadership and I truly didnt even consider NP as I am a single mom with 2 boys 7 and 4. I just felt like it would be out of the question due to time and the fact that I need flexible hours as I have little support from the ex and no family here. I just really put it out of my mind. The truth is I love the clinical side and I would love to be an NP. Walden U does not have an NP program. So do I start researching online NP programs and see if I could get my financial aid switched over, is it even doable with the fact that I have to work full time? AAAHHHH Okay I am going to breathe and go to bed. :)
Any suggestions and words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone,
Jen

Of course it's doable! Do Walden credits transfer to most other schools? I'm not familiar with them. I go to css.edu, and can change my track, but have to discuss with my advisor first; I like that there's flexibility there (management, NP, CNS, psych) and many of my classes are required for any of the tracks. At least you're only into your first semester. Have your FAFSA updated & sent to the school or schools you are intending to transfer to, talk to the admissions staff, former students, etc. - be happy you have only finished 1 semester -- :) -- and know that it's OK to change your mind! I'm in the FNP track now, but wonder at times if I'd prefer informatics or management... but really enjoy so many aspects that I'll just wait to see what my best option is while I continue this one part-time. Good luck!

Not to worry. As mom2cka points out, if your current institution is accredited then the courses you have will transfer and you can simply changes schools.
Good Luck! It will all work out!

I am working fulltime and in my final few semesters of NP school, and I won't kid you - it's very hard to fit in clinical with FT work. My uni requires 4- and 6-week blocks of clinicals in the past couple of semesters, so I have saved up all my STO to use for that.
It's definitely doable if you want it! Much better to swap now than get done with a degree you don't want and regret it.
