I swore at a resident

Published

Please help me, I'm a noc shift cna, I had been working all week with only two on the floor no lunch or break for the last two days, I was exhausted and sick, I was at my wits end. I had 30 plus residents to myself and I know that's no excuse but when my resident kept trying to climb out of Bed I swore at her... I didn't cuss her out. I think I only said oh **** or something which still isn't right.. my facility has suspended me with an investigation..... what is going to happen, will I face jail time, will I loose my certificate PLEASE HELP ME

You won't face jail time & you won't lose your certificate. If anything you can lose your job but that's it.

Ok thank you so mucj, I've been sick to my stomach about this. I feel bad for doing it.. it's hard to control yourself when your worn out and stressed

So sorry for this added stress. Agree with above poster. We wish you the best and are sure this won't recur. Take care.

Closing this now as it is veering into legal advice.

I think there is a huge difference between accidentally saying "oh s***" when you accidentally drop something and a resident hears you verses swearing at a resident.

Swearing at a resident is aggressive and possibly abusive.

But if just swore in the presence of a resident, I'd imagine the absolute worse than can happen is you lose your job?

How did it escalate to you being suspended?

Because I was tired and stressed out horribly and I think I said what the f are you doing or something I know it sounds horrible. I feel so bad.

Merged threads. As we stated earlier this situation is just not something we can comment on as it is veering into legal advice which per our terms of service, we can't provide.

We sincerely wish you the best.
