I start NS next Monday... Any advice ?

Published

I just had my orientation yesterday and begin my full day next Monday... Any advice for survival, to not stressing out would really help. I tend to get overwhelmed when I see a large study load, but after I get over it, I usually do really well. I have a problem with that at first and then feeling like if a patient asks me a question, I may know know the answer when I should know it. As you can see, I am trying not to worry about things that may not even happen.

i always get caught up in the "what if" moments & for me, its hard not to. im a natural worrier and im working on trying to calm the hell down lol nursing schools stressful but if you find a few friends in your class or even 1 person you can talk to, even if its one of your teachers, it helps sooo much. they know what you're going through. talking to family and friends outside of school helps of course too, because they're supportive too. but seriously, the people you go through school with will be your best friends for the next few years that you're in school, so take advantage of it. it helps a ton with stress and anxiety. knowing that other people feel the same way you do at the same time is a huge relief. i learned to deep breathe before every test and clinical day. and realize that your instructor wont let you mess up, they wont let you kill anyone, so thats nothing to freak out about. as for the study load, yes its a lot and it seems like SO much, but if you keep on top of things and try to read ahead, even if its just skimming the chapters i can guarantee you'll feel less anxious about the tests. good luck!!

Thanks, are u still in school ?

yep, only a little longer

The best advice I have would be to grab a glass of wine and start pouring through this forum. Start with the stickies at the top and work your way down.

There is a LOT of info in those threads and worth reading. A lot of the same questions get asked over and over again and these threads answer so many questions we all had or have.
