do I have to respond to my acceptance letter?(and a transfer question)

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just got my acceptance letter to Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge! It's for pre-nursing fall of '14 and was my first choice school(due mostly to proximity). I was reading articles and lists and things today about preparing and read something about responding to acceptance letters to guarantee your spot. How do you respond? It's a year from now and I'm currently finishing up an unrelated degree at LSU until next may. I never formally accepted my spot at lsu as far as I can remember.

Did you guys respond somehow to accept your spot at your school? The letter just says I'm accepted pending final transcripts(since Im a transfer technically and still in school elsewhere). I only applied to this one school so far and don't plan on applying elsewhere.

Other question:

They accepted me provisionally "pending final transcripts." Do I send a transcript at the end of this fall and another next May when I graduate, or just the "final" transcript next may? (I feel like I am over thinking this. They did use the word final but if I don't send one at the end of this semester they might think I'm not interested? But if I send one and it isn't the final one maybe it'll waste their time?)

I would send a response to the acceptance letter and transcripts for Fall and Spring semesters...I wouldn't want to miss my spot for a school I wanted to go to; just my opinion. ;)

I would also respond to the acceptance letter. Just call the admissions office and be sure that they know you still are interested in attending and ask when you need to send in your final transcripts etc.

I don't think you need to pen a formal letter of accepting your acceptance though :)

Depends

What does your letter state? My letter did not require me to respond, it only required that I attended the mandatory orientation to confirm my seat. I have seen on here some people actually do have to reply and they include a form.

"Congratulations, you have been accepted … pending receipt of final transcripts. … Please send in proof of immunization and attend an orientation session as soon as possible."

Sooooo if the orientation seals the deal should I attend an orientation like, soon? I applied so early I didn't know…The current orientation sessions they have say they're for spring of 2014 not fall.

I would call to clarify....they would know more than us...FWIW, I would at least start to send immunizations and all that info in.

On my acceptance letter it said to email to confirm my acceptance and I have to attend orientation in Jan. For you, I would say call and figure out what you need to do and when.

So, you said this is for pre-nursing...so it's not the actual nursing program? Then you wouldn't need to respond in that case. If it's your nursing program, I'm pretty sure you'd have to respond in some way. When I got my email, it had 3 attachments and one of them was a slip to check the box of accepting a seat or not accepting a seat and we had 10 days to return it.
