hi, I am an international student, studying in MA, AS program.

this is my last semester. I don't know what is my best option after I graduate.

I want to find job with opt and I am willing to relocate if there is any chance.

I am also thinking about transfer too.

I will take nclex exam in july I think.

please, give me some feedback.

You may find it hard due to retrogression finding employer willing to go through the process knowing in 12 months you can not work. If you plan on living and working in the US what visa are you looking at? Also be aware I believe OPT becomes void if you do not find a employer within a certain timeframe so will have to maintain student visa or leave the US

thanks for replying. What is the retrogression? that make it hard to find job as a international student? I am looking for h1 visa or green card if possible. What would you recommend if you were in my situation? transfer? try finding job? thank you!!

H1b is a specialist visa and minimum requirement is BSN and a employer willing to pay $$ for your work visa. Retrogression is affecting nurses as immigrant visa is usually EB3 and current waiting time is over 6 years depending on where you was born and if you find a employer willing to go this route they can file for you but you can not stay in the US and work whilst waiting. Retrogression has been ongoing since Oct 2006 and basically means number of applicants for visa outweighs actual visas allocated.

It has been taking an average of 6 months to 1 year for new grads ( ADN) to find a position. A BSN is preferred in MA.
