Can you please let me know what's the correct way to perform these steps...my skill exam will be this Friday. Please please please help me!!!!
HAND WASHING:
~Do we need to get a paper towel to turn on the water? When drying our hands, can we dry our hands using the same paper towel for both hands, or do we use a new one to dry the other hand?
POSITION THE PT IN SUPINE POSITION:
~Do we need to put any pillow to support the pt legs or at their foots? So, overall how many pillows do we need for this skill?
DRESS THE PT:
~Do we need to raise head of bed so the pt is in their sitting position before we help them to sit up to the side of bed to dress them?
~After we dress them up do we leave them sitting in bed or what do we need to do before we do the closing procedure? I know that we are not suppose to put them back to bed cos they are already have their shoes on...
TAKE AN ORAL TEMPERATURE W/ A GLASS THERMOMETER:
~When we perform this skill, does the proctor give us the glass thermometer and tell us to read that red line that on the thermometer to show them that we know how to read the temp correctly? If this is the case, is there an opening & closing procedure for this?
Or do we actually have to put the glass thermometer in the pt mouth and continue from there?
BRUSH THE PT DENTURES:
~Is there an opening & closing for this skill? Is the proctor just going to give us the dentures and we perform it from there? Or do we actually take the dentures off from the pt mouth then continue to perform from there?
GIVE MALE PT PERINEAL CARE:
~For male pt do we need to place a bedpan and do a diamond shape or this is only require for female pt? Do we need to use lotion, if yes then where do we apply it?
MAKE AN OCCUPIED BED:
~For the flat sheet (bottom one) do we need to do a mitered corners @ the foot of bed, or just only @ the head of bed? And which sheet do we have to turn it right side out, is it just the top sheet or something?
...sorry for many q's but I just so confuse what to do with those steps.

aahh....you have so many questions! :) i had so many too before I took my skills. But I was fine and you wil be too. I am a GNA and work in a nursing home now.
For HANDWASHING.....I throw away the paper towel I turned off the faucet with. Then get new ones to dry my hands with
SUPINE- Im not sure which state you are in...In Maryland that was not a skill. Supine is when the pt is just laying flat in the bed.But I would do a pillow under the head then a pillow under each arm. Also a pillow under their feet so the heels are floated.
DRESSING THE PT- I do raise the head of the bed for dressing/undressing. So the patient can lean forward a little to pull their shirt down in the back. And I would leave them sitting up on the side of the bed
TEMP- The tester will give you the thermometer and you have to take the temp and read it.
DENTURES- The dentures will just be false ones in a denture cup. beside the sink. You don't have to take them out of a pt's mouth.

I'm happy for you that you passed your tests but that schizo cap lock thing is super obnoxious.
