A little background about me. I've been a Psychiatric LPN for 8 years. I passed the NCLEX-PN on the first try.
I graduated with my ADN December 2016.
Upon receiving my Authorization to Test, I scheduled my NCLEX for February 14th. I was incredibly apprehensive about taking the NCLEX. My anxiety was off the charts. I thought that this would give me ample time to review.
My review consisted of JUST taking questions. No content review… JUST questions. Mainly Kaplan, but some NCLEX Mastery on my phone.
With each passing day my anxiety grew WORSE. My self-doubt intensified. So much in fact that I woke up on Thursday January 26th and logged onto the Pearson Vue website. I selected the hyperlink to change my test date. I reviewed the available test dates and I knew which one I HAD to pick. I selected Friday January 27th.
Yup I changed my NCLEX to the VERY NEXT day. I moved up my test more than 2 weeks. My Kaplan scores weren't stellar, but the mental pain that I was inflicting upon myself was unbearable. I NEEDED to be done. At this time, I hadn't even taken my readiness exam yet!
I got out of orientation at 4:30 pm on Thursday. I came home and took my Readiness exam. I scored a 66.1%, if you look at the chart this predicted that I had a 97.9% chance of passing my NCLEX.
I sat for my NCLEX on January 27th at 2pm. I took a little over 100 questions. I don't remember the final number.
2 hours after I tried the PVT with a Gift Card that had like $11 on it... "Good Popup"... I proceeded to check like 20+ times until getting my quick results today (on a Sunday)...
I PASSED!!!
Here's my Kaplan Breakdown...
Diagnostic A: 55.6%
QT 1: 60%
QT 2: 65.3%
QT 3: 54%
QT 4: 53.3%
QT 5: 54.7%
QT 6: 57%
QT 7: 55.1%
Q Bank: 57% (I completed all but 160 questions. I repeated some that I missed AND Kaplan kicked me off making it look like I didn't reach 98 questions… Therefore, this percentage is NOT accurate).
Readiness: 66.1%
Also utilized the NCLEX Mastery App on my phone. 71% correct, also a skewed number since I repeated missed questions. I still had 1183 questions to go on this app.
I just wanted to share my story. To let you know that it CAN be done with so-so Kaplan scores.
