I have been a nurse for a little over a year in a long-term care facility, and I have never done this before! I worked Saturday and Sunday last week and several times this week I passed medication and took care of my patients in my dreams. My dreams have not been good though, because in my dreams I am behind or in a panic trying to get something done on time. I have had several dreams this week, and I do not feel like I am even getting any rest eben thought I am asleep. Has anyone ever did this, and what did you do to make these dreams go away?

I really know what you mean. I everyonce in a while I take patients home with me. They're usually in the living room, and my clock is a monitor that I can't quite figure out. The best thing I've found is to switch my minds gears, do a cross word read a relaxing book (not suspense), drink a warm glass of milk, cut work thoughts out of my mind before I close my eys, cool dark room. It is so important in nursing to be able to seperate home from work , for your own health as well as the patients (you always want to be on top of the game when you go to work)

I posted this before on another thread. When I worked 7AM-7PM on a busy tele/stepdown unit, I would have this recurring dream: I would be running around all day trying to get my work done and looked up at the clock and realized that is was 6:45PM and I hadn't given any of my pt's their scheduled meds for the day. I would wake up in a panic and cold sweat! I just hated it when that happened. I think it is related to the stress of the job. What to do about it, I really don't know. My solution was to take maternity leave and then decided I didn't want to go back. But, that is only because I'm in a position where my hubby makes a good living and financially we were able to do so.I'm sure if I was still working there, I'd still be suffering from those dreams. :uhoh21:
