I PASSED!!!! First Time 75 Questions!

Published

Hello,

I graduated from school back in Feb. Since then I things easy. I did not study everyday and I went on vacation a couple of times. I needed to relieve all the stress from nursing school. I practiced anywhere from 50-200 question per day. But, honestly life hit me with some curve balls that restricted from studying. I have to admit, I had a solid foundation and graduated with a 3.99 GPA. In school we used ATI, and when I graduated I purchased Kaplan. Kaplan question were definitely harder than ATI and NCLEX, but their rationales are not as detailed as ATI. I think my lowest score on Kaplan question trainer was a 55%, everything else was over 60%. I actually started Hurst Review 3 months before school was completed, which really really helped as far as content. I suggest this strategy to anyone still in school. I also purchased the 3 week NCLEX review with NCSBN. This was excellent. It was content that you needed to know and the questions were excellent practice. I did complete ATI green light process and scored a 77%, which gave me a 98% probability of passing the first time. I scheduled my NCLEX on May 22,2015. I probably has 15-20 SATA!!!!, 3 drag and drops, 2 exhibit questions, 1 photo question, 3 priority questions. My last 3 questions were 1 priority, and 2 SATA, and the test ended after 75 questions. Honestly, I walked out of there feeling like I passed. As the day went on my confidence level dropped. One reason was reading some of the forums on this website. I was a complete and total nervous MESS! Plus I took my exam on a friday of Memorial weekend. I was told I would not get my results until wednesday. I checked my results yesterday and paid the $7.95 and I PASSED!!!!

My suggestion to future NCLEX takers is build a solid content foundation. You can learn strategy and this does help, but content will give you confidence that you can do it. Honestly, there was only one question on the test that completely stumped me. I scheduled my test for 12p.m, because I am not a morning person and this gave plenty time to sleep in. I did not study the day before and went bowling with my friends. The day of the test I ate my favorite food, and got a pedicure in a massage chair before the test. I was completely relaxed, said a prayer and conquered the NCLEX!!!! Stay positive, think positive ALWAYS! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! DON'T GIVE UP!

Congratulations of passing the NCLEX!! What state are you in? Thank you for sharing your experience. I just passed the CNA in Florida, I can tell you the practical portion was NERVE WRACKING!!!! I have a little anxiety as it is, but having two proctors standing inches away while you are performing skills is really intimidating. I had a pulse rate over 100 the entire practical exam. I was the only person that passed that day, despite horrific anxiety. I know the feeling attached to finding out you succeeded, it is amazing. don't underestimate the power of positive thinking, ever. I have a very narcissistic partner who was telling me I was going to fail, I didn't listen to him. Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do it. I wish you luck on your future endeavors. Thank you for sharing your technique, very valuable info!
