WOOHOO! I passed Basics! :dncgbby: :anpom: :dancgrp: :clpty: :rckn: Thank You Lord I could not have done it without you! :bowingpur

I made it too !! It was def a struggle..on to NAC I !!

Congrats for passing Basics!!Be prepared to hit the ground running and not stop for NAC1..I just made it out of NAC 1..i just want this all to be over!!! Good luck !!

Thanks..yeah so I hear..lol What exactly did you do different in Nac I than in Basics?? Just curious as what to expect??

for one, you will be going to the hospital every week, starting week 2. you will get a TON of information- in the first week. and throughout the whole semester, but i was shocked at how much we covered week 1.

overall (and same as basics) you have to manage your time wisely. i worked 2 jobs and made it out of NAC 1 with a B. it can be done, you just have to put in the work.

I commend you on being able to work and make it out of NAC 1 escpecially with B!! You must be a natural to have done that!! I managed a B but I could not have been working. I have 3 kids so I do have to balance time. I lost a lot of friends to Nac1..they didnt make it but tried so hard. I feel a lot more is expected at clinicals..with clinicals being 2 days a week every week , that takes up a few days a week that are dedicated to patients and care plans..no time for studying..so you have to put in like 10 hour study days when not doing care maps.. We had 2 patients every week and had to memorize all patients meds and taht enatiled about 40 + meds to know..quite frustrating..and paperwork for the patients was quite daunting. I guess it all depends on clinical instructors as well..

Hey cajunmom what hospital did u do ur clinicals at? I can't believe u had to memorize meds! That is just impossible. I did my clinicals at Touro and our clinical instructor allowed us to print out our meds and bring them. I used the cd that came with the drug guide. Some people even had PDAs. So is it different when u get in NAC I?

what is the secret to doing good and passing basics. I start this semester. thanks

Congrats on passing Basics! I hope to be in your shoes at Charity in the Fall 2010. Same question here: What is the secret to passing Basics? What do it actually entail?

I have heard it is Super, Super hard and that a lot of people fail. Whats would you say was the key to your success? Please do tell!

Good luck in Nac I:up:

To pass: #1 is getting organized. you will be given A LOT of notes, you will take notes, and do extra assignments for learning, etc. Find a system that works for you and stick to it. It can get confusing if youre learning test 3 material but just took test 1. So find a good organization method. I had a charity binder for current test stuff, each topic labled with tabs. if we moved on to another test info i had a seperate binder for that. in the end i put all material in a large binder for final. # 2 stay on top of your notes and lectures. read them everyday if you can..watch lectures on tegrity as you read your notes. Its a great way to study and reinforce the material. Dont try to memorize..it does not work. pick up in the "little" things you hear in lecture that you might think make no sense or irrelevant..those are usually important. Do practice questions..use the fundamentals for basics and evolve to practice questions. thats all i can think of for now. good luck

Thank you so much for the advise. I am applying to Charity next month. Every little tid bit of information is going to help me succeed in Charity. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
