Specializes in Nursing.

I have obtained my LPN Diploma in Vancouver, BC Canada and now I live in USA and would like to apply for California license and NCLEX-PN exam. I have received multiple different answers as how to apply for the license and yet I am not sure as to what are the requirements. I am starting fresh and all I have is my transcripts and LPN Diploma. I've heard I have to provide employment verification but I don't have a previous work experience I want to apply to obtain license in USA based on my education level. If anyone could navigate me about how I can apply and (what are the requirements with regards to my situation) I would highly appreciate. ( I do have my work authorization and SSN as well).

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Starting point is CGFNS and they require everything to come direct from the establishment so your school will need to send your transcripts to them

Look at the BVNPT website for instructions. If you have any questions contact the Board.

Correct LPN’s do not come under nafta

Let’s say you have a family in the USA or maybe marry an American and be a citizen, and you are Canadian LPN ( from BC) do you think they will give you the chance to take NCLEX- PN? To obtain your US license and be able to work there?  Thank you

If you are able to move to the US by other legal means that give you the right to work then yes you can apply to the state as a LPN and as long as you meet their requirements and pass NCLEX you can work
