Hello,
I recently accepted a Nursing Assistant Clinical director role at an ALF. On the day of orientation I was suppose to receive my offer letter and job description etc. When the day came I was met with the there is no job description yet it is still being created. And my offer letter is still in the works. Fast forward. I was told wait a few days and it will be ready. Fast forward a week and half still the same tune and dance. Im thinking it is best to just resign because I don't feel it is professional to work with out clear guidelines of my role. My Director he is fantastic and also new in his role little over a month. Is uncertain of his job duties and mine also. I was told we can figure it out together. What do you think? I don't think I should have to give a months notice considering it is still early. I feel terrible leaving a job like this but I worked my butt off for my license.

Are you currently volunteering? An offer letter mainly discussed salary or hourly rates of pay. How was that presented to you? If you're a current employee, you had to have accepted something.
Moving forward, I would HIGHLY recommend not accepting anything until the rates of pay are presented in writing. I mean, what in the world?!?! Job descriptions are discussed during the interview process and are presented in writing upon entry on duty. But the offer letter is what the job seeker accepts prior to onboarding if he or she likes the numbers. Without it, you stand the risk of receiving minimum wage. I'd be moving on like yesterday if I were you. With situations like this, paydays are toss-ups.

During the interview process some of the job responsibilities were discussed but not all it was a very short brief interview. I have an email from HR stating my offer letter and various paperwork would be available to me during orientation which included a job description that I would have to sign off on. At the orientation I was told it was not ready but still being worked on. My agreement was verbal based on what I was promised. Now HR is stating they never had job descriptions for any of the roles which I know is illegal you can't run a nursing facility without policy and procedures in place. I was informed yesterday they will start writing a job description for my role this week. Big red flag!
I do apologize for the long rant. But pretty much there is no job description available for my role. The facility also does not have an employee handbook at all. I was told everything is being written. Funny thing is its not a new facility. Im not sure how they're operating without it.

I think this is a big red flag for this facility. I have done my share of SNF, Rehab and ALF nursing and most are very disorganized, poorly run and have a high turn-over rate. You need that job description and offer letter before you hit the floor working. If something were to be happen they could say you didn't follow policy. I would say run, don't walk away from this facility.
