I need a pick me up

Published

Ok so I am a junior nursing student. I have attended a four year college so I have been in school what feel like forever, and there you have my problem...I am no longer motivated.

I love nursing, always have every since high school, and if I quit I wouldn't know what else to do with my life. It seems like it is taking forever to graduate (the slowest four years of my life).

I recently got married; I had been living with my partner for a few months before starting the nursing program with intentions to get married, so we did. Before we moved in together I had no income and he knew this, and now I'm to the point where I cannot find a decent job to work with my school schedule. So I have no money (he did not saying anything; I just like to have my own money sometimes)

I'm just tired of being broke and having to study all the time. I want my life back lol. I have applied to a nurse extern job in hopes they would work with my schedule. I just feel like I'm dying (I am a drama queen) Any advice to make me realize this is so worth the wait.

I'm very sorry you feel this way; I am a student myself and is always broke so I know how you feel (in the same position!). But please know that this is a temporary state and you will be finished with school one day! Just as everyone tells me, "it's all for that feeling of success at the end!"

And when you do graduate and find a job you enjoy, you will be glad you did it. Every student hates having to only study and having no money, but everyone who was ever a student has gone through this path. It's normal to feel frustrated like this, I have felt this way plenty of times (and i still do) and it sucks. But tell you, it'll get better overtime and it's worth it for yourself and your own future, not to mention your husband and kids!

Keep your head up and do your best. Your family will be proud of you. And when you're done, you will be proud of yourself too. :)

Suck it up and get through those last 2 years. The last year should be pretty fast. It's the life of a student, hopefully you'll reap the benefits down the road.

Where will you be in 2 years if you DON'T finish your program?

You're right, it is a long haul, but you have companions in the same boat. Make a pact w/a bestie (or 2) that "if you stick it out, I will, too". Remind each other frequently, and get each other cheap little motivators. You've no idea how good a pink hi-lighter can look sometimes. Or a little nursie gadget. The cheaper and cornier the better. Laughing helps.

Meanwhile, best wishes and prayers for your success.
