I keep failing classes which are frustrating. I study hard, reading all the chapters, study the powerpoints and do nclex questions, but it does not help. What I am having a problem at is I do not know and understand how to apply concepts, and when I take the test I am down to 2 answers that look right, and not sure which one to pick. Please help. I have 4 kids and my teacher was thinking that was the issue but it is not. I am depressed and feel stupid at this point.
Can you tell me how you apply concepts to the powerpoints when you was in school as a student ? I am just trying to find out how to do this. It is so frustating. When I was psychology class I was able to do application questions now I do not know what is going on. I do not want to fail again, I cannot explain how humiliated and embarassed this makes feel.
Writing the material out actually help me pass one of nursing classes the second time around. That why I tried to use that. It tends to throw me off too if the teacher is not organized. I tend to give up. For the teacher decided to stop bringing powerpoints in and just talk while we write.
When I was in school I would ask my teacher what to focus on and go from there. As for the studying part I would listen to classical music and take breaks every 45 minutes. For about 20 minute break. I usually ended up studying for a couple hours a day. I have a hard time concentrating when it comes to studying and lectures. Always having to get up or my mind goes someplace else. I swear by the classical music though!! It did help[emoji4][emoji4]
Aw thanks so much for moving my question to help me to get more responses. Do you guys know what I can do ? I do not know how to understand the big picture and apply concepts. The weird thing is I get a lot of the Nclex questions right. But for me applying the information is not working. I am known for overstudying and memorying powerpoints, but how can I prevent myself from doing that ? Oh geez please help. I do not know how many times I been crying. It took me 6 years to get into this the program because of the waiting list. I been there for a total of 14 years taking classes. I took a learning style test, and they said I am an auditory learning. I have done all. Accept take a taperecorder to record lectures. When studying I can spend over 6 hours with writing out information, and doing the chapter readings. The counselor told me to try to seek outside help because they could just provide me with the tests given for learning styles, which I taken already. Also they have self help nclex tests you can take on the computer. It is really it is bad. My mom left this school also and decide to give up nursing because of lack of support that is not given in this program.
why would you attend a program that your mom had difficulty with also?
Maybe I can try classical music. How did you go by applying concepts ? Like we have a big powerpoint on Diabetes that will be on the next oncoming test. So, with Diabetes we have the definition, different symptoms, diagnosis, and other diabetes conditions.
Honestly I am not sure. My big thing in school was always asking the teacher what to focus on for the test. And review the chapters. I never really studied the powerpoints Sometimes there is so much info it is overwhelming. Maybe try and study little sections at a time then take a break. It was 9 years ago since I was in nursing school. I am sure a lot as changed. I do remember also reviewing NCLEX questions. And when I narrowed it down to two questions. Went with my gut.

I've never heard of a nursing school allowing a student to fail more than two classes before dismissing that student.
