I need a little bit of advice!

Published

I'm contemplating LVN or RN school. I know that there will be more job openings for an RN and all that stuff, but I don't really have the time or the money to wait to get into the RN program. The LVN program is 18 months long and then I plan on bridging to RN. I guess I have already kind of made up my mind as far as my decision, but I need some advice.. Encouragement... Something? I don't want to make the wrong decision. I could be accepted to the LVN program this spring. It probably wouldn't be until next spring that I could get into the RN program. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance:)

I was in your shoes a year ago. I went with the Lvn program. And still now I feel that choosing this route is very frowned upon by the RNs. Anytime I say I'm in an LVN PROGRAM, they look at me like if that's the stupidest mistake of my life. Other than that, I think as long as u do something to get ur nursing career started, that's what matters. and of course remember to do the bridge program right away! I hear many of those RN programs aren't even letting LVNs start on the second year, now they are making LVNS start from scratch with the fundamentals. Apparently many were dropping cause they waited too long to go back to school and forgot all the material!

Do what is best for you hun, I am kind of in the same boat, the only difference between me and you are, I have all of my prerequisites to get into a BSN program however, I had a hard time passing the Nurse Entrance and Teas V test and I got tired of not getting into an RN program and putting my career on hold so I am currently in a LPN program which is only a year. That is my way of doing the nursing route to get into an RN program and also working, taking cae of my family, etc. Good Luck and keep us posted. If there is a waiting list for the RN programs in your area, then I would do the LPN to RN bridge route, either way you will be making a great decision, do what you love, be a nurse, and make a great living.
