I need some insight from allnurses.....

I have been nurse for 12 years and have had amazing wonderful jobs I wished I never left. Then I was off awhile form nursing

and the job climate changed during that time. So now I find myself accepting long term care/ SNF shift positions through

a temporary nurse staffing agency.

Everyplace....I mean everyplace I go, I end up having personality issues with at least one staff person- usually a staff

CNA. Anyways it ends I become a do not request return. I have tried staying on NOC shifts only, keeping to myself, smiling

excessively and being friendly no matter what the work conditions are, and though I am up to my chin, letting co workers

know if they need help let me know. But there will be the one staff person- usually a staff CNA- who will target me and its

all downhill from there.

I have twisted myself into a pretzel shape to be what I am suppose to be, to represent my agency well ....and now, this

last situation at a place I worked a lot has really shifted my perception...of who I am.

It is never the patients that have an issue and they are the reason, the only reason I continue with this. And I am confidently a good nurse, good skills.

But it has pretty much reached the point I am feeling like this is the end of my nursing career. It is the dysfunction, the behind your back , the no truth telling to ones face...I just can not deal with it anymore (vent)

So if any of you can offer insights, constructive ideas and criticism- if this what you think-.....for those of you working

agency/LTC...is this just the nature of it? I see other nurses through agency and they do not seem to have the same situation as I do, but I do not know for sure.

I cryed so much the first day called off. I am not inviting allnurses to a pity party:-) I

am just trying to figure out these experiences I am having- that in all my work

experience I have never had- and take corrective measures. We can not change

others but we can always change ourself.

No......you're fine.:)

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but I don't......just maybe don't try so hard? Your skills and good work habits will speak for you; you don't have to make friends with the staff in order to be effective.

There are those who feel they have to give someone a hard time and they are aware that an agency employee is in a particularly vulnerable position. They take advantage of that because they can. Suggest you attempt to get a permanent placement so that you have a better chance to survive.
