I need honest to God answers to my questions

I need somebody to give me some honest answers to my questions without sugar coating the responses. So, without further ado, here are my questions:

1. Is travel nursing for psych nurses worth giving up my full time job in a state psych hospital with poor pay but decent benefits?

2. What is the best company to work with that places psych nurses?

3. Is it hard to travel with a spouse or is he going to hate me after he quits his job to go on the road with me?

4. What is the approximate pay that you receive? Are the benefits good?

5. Is it a struggle to go from one assignment to the next or is there a significant amount of time that you are jobless?

depends on if you can travel to anywhere the work is. How many states you want to get licensure in. Are a person who can pick up new things easily with minimal training? Yeah psych is psych but places will have different policies, different paperwork, etc. As far as if there is enough work out there I think if you can truly travel to where ever the jobs are you would be okay but if you are are more limited you may have gaps between your assignments. The pay will vary but is generally pretty good. There are pros and cons. I had the choice of a really cheap insurance that covered basically hospital care or a really super expensive one that covered everything. I chose neither and its hard to get a policy by yourself. If you were on your spouses policy and that person had a job that he/she could do anywhere and travel with you, that would be ideal.

The travel nurses I have spoken with don't sound like they are actually making a ton of money but it is more about the different experiences. FWIW I would definitely consider leaving my husband at home while I took a travel assignment or two but no way would I want anyone to quit their job just to follow me around while I work.

I've often wondered this, but my spouse refuses to quit just for that. Especially in this economy, many men wonder if they'll be able to get any kind of job if they leave one.
