i need help i graduated since 2010 august from this school that didnt help that much ... it was a worst school to go all they did is just give you answers and i cant pass this test i took it 3 times and im getting really frustrated .. i tried flash cards and also reading the saunders book & the question on the cd..... but it seems all i do in the question of the cd just memorize the answer and the flash cards just forgetting sooner or later ... does anyone know of a good review course online or something to help me please ;(!

When you are studying, are you fully understanding what is being asked? When you miss a question, are you taking notes on the rantionales? I used the Saundars and Exam Cram book. The exam cram book (it is yellow and blue on the cover) has a wonderful little cram study thingy on the inside of the cover. It gives you a quick little crash course on many things. I also learned how to answer questions because of that book. Just because you may not understand the question fully, if you look at a sentence structure it helps lead you into the correct answer.

I also loved my Saundars book. Well actually, I hated the book and I loved the disc. I spent three weeks with that disc after I learned how to answer questions. With the saundars disc I went on study mode and I would answer anywhere from 100 to 200 questions a day as practice. While answering the questions I was pretending I was taking my NCELX.

Now when you go to take your NCLEX, what is going on? Are you feeling nervous? Are you worried that the five hour a loted time is not enough? Is there a voice in the back of your head that says, you can't do it and you listen? Are you taking your time reading and fully understanding the question that is being asked?

Probably im not understanding question .. But seems i forget things and i do get nervous... Sometimes i just think i cant do it no more ..

Hi Denise!

You need to focus on planning, set certain time for study and stick with it. If you don't understand the questions then go back, review all content, and then go back to questions again. Don't memorize trivia, you need to learn to understand what those questions are trying to ask you to do? Find study buddy so you can meet once a week and support each other. You can join us if you like.... we set our goal for end of September. It is plenty of time to prepare! Don't panic, things happen for a reason! We go over Saunders now, plus LaCharity book. Courses are great but all you need is to practice answering questions.

Best wishes!

Don't allow your nerves to get the best of you. What do you feel will help you best to concur your fears? Always remember to just breathe. I know what you mean about forgetting things. I felt like I forgot a lot too! I graduated on Aug. 17th, 2011. I needed a vacation afterwards (went to vegas to empty my mind and relax). I didn't get in to take my NCLEX until Oct. 4, 2011.

Like a said in my pervious post about that exam cram book...it gives you a crash course on everything you would have studied in class and tips on how to answer questions. I spent three weeks nearly everyday reading that book and just practing answering questions. Read everyting fully. I'm going to give you some tips and examples.

Look for keywords and avoid selecting answers that include: Always, Never, All, Every, Only, Must, Only, Must, No, Except, and None.

-Look for similar options.

-Correct options will include or exclude all the other options

-The option with the specific determiner is often the correct answer.

- The correct option must be consistent with the form of the question.

- When you see opposites, one of these options is usually correct

- Choose only an option that is reasonable and obtatinable

When you find yourself asking, "What if?" STOP and reread the stem of the question. If you are reading into the question that will create errors in judgment. Which was really hard for me...but it made life so much easier once I did that. Once you answer a question, don't change it. I've noticed 9 times out of 10, my first pick was the correct answer. Just saying.

Couple of practice questions as I'm quoting some of this info from the exam cram book

Treatment of sickle cell crises includes the application of:

A) heating pad to the joints

B) An ice pack to the joints

C) A CPM device to the lower leg

D) A TENS unit to the back

Answer is A. When you look at A and B those two are opposites. When you see opposites a lot of times one of those is the correct answer.

The client is admitted to the intensive care unit with severe chest pain. Which information provides the nurse with the most data that can be utilized in planning care?

A) The blood pressure

B) The vital signs

C) The pulse oximeter

D) The EEG

Answer is B. This is an umbrella answer. If you find one answer is included in another answer, that option is most often correct.

The nurse knows that the client with periphearal vascular disease understands her instructions in ways to improve circulation if the clients states.

A) "I will massage my legs three times a day."

B) "I will elevate the foot of my bed on blocks."

C) "I will take a brisk walk for 20 minutes each day."

D) "I will prop my feet up when I sit to watch TV."

Answer is C. When you look at B and D these are similar answers there for...just throw those ones out. The answer that is different is most often correct. Answer C is the odd answer/answer that is different.

I hope that these tips will help you out...and happy studying! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
