Published

Iam a 20 year old man. I want to prosper in life nad make a career, so i have been thinking about what i want to do. So the thing that called my attention the most is nursing. I graduated high school in 2006, I know that i need to make something out of my life, to prosper, i know its a process, but iam determined to do this. Iam confused though, i dont know where to start, what do i need to do? can i just go to school to a specific program in nursing, or do i need to take general college courses first? I dont understand what the process is to be an RN ( which is what i want to be first ). can anyone give me any advise on where i can start or what i can do? thank you.:loveya:

Specializes in Med/Surg, Home Health.

Apply to college. Once you are accepted, you choose your major (nursing). You are assigned an advisor who will help you through the entire process.

Specializes in ER, ICU, Neuro, Ortho, Med/Surg, Travele.

My children are in the same situation and close to your age. First off, check with your local colleges to see what they offer. You'll want to start off with your basics, English, Math, and Sciences. That will get your feet wet. Check in to see if there are any CNA classes being offered. You'll learn basics like bathing and turning patients. It will also help you in discovering if nursing is what you want to do. Healthcare offers a lot of different avenues beside nursing. Give yourself time. Good luck in your future endeavers.
