I was also one of the oldest in my class. It isn't easy, and I know that. Try to maintain friends outside of nursing. I'll be honest with you, I keep in touch with ONE (out of 44) classmates. It helps that we work for the same hospital. I did maintain friends outside of nursing school. We might not have done much but at least I was able to talk to them.
As far as keeping up: I'm sorry I can't help you there. I didn't go the accelerated route, so I don't know how your schedule works. Maybe someone else can help you. Just hang in there.
Do you have a planner? Just like everything else in life, I used a planner to write down the dates and times due for assignments/tests/clinicals/etc.
I like the one that has the month view the best.
It was really cathartic to be able to mark things off as done and also helped (albeit also overwhelmed me) to be able to look at everything and figure how and when to study or meet the deadlines. Good luck!
I also went to an accelerated program and graduated in August! My best advice would be like AJJKRN and to get a planner or calendar. I thrived on having a routine, wake up, eat, study, work out, shower, study, eat, Netflix, sleep. It's important to write all assignments down and check them off as well as attend any/all tutoring to help if you are struggling. As for making friends I found it helpful when I had clinical to make friends with those people because you are with them so much. Just be yourself! I'm 24 and I became good friends with the older people in my class, they have more to offer in terms of maturity!

Nursing school is a lot harder than i anticipated. I know it is an accelerated degree, but i'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with all the tests and the readings. Its become very disheartening. It seems that I am the only one in the class who can't keep up. I also find it very hard to make friends with the other students due to my age (one of the oldest in class)
any encouragement?
