I need enlightenment with my CA nclex application

Hi there! This is my first post but I've been reading some of the posts in the forums and it really helped me a lot!!! but here's the thing... Im applying for Ca nclex and i'm really bothered with the issues presented to me by some of my friends and acquaintances about CA licensure...
I graduates last march 2007, took my local board here in the philippines last december 2007( no results yet!)... I have applied for the NCLEX in California and i've heard that I won't be given a license for the meantime( after passing it) unless I get my SSN...The problem is I still don't have an employer and I might visit California for a vacation... can I find my self an employer while my tourist stay??? can I work in a hospital without a license yet?? can I work as a nurse associate in a hospital while waiting for my license??? I'm really worried if I made the right decision for choosing California rather than other states such as vermont or new mexico... Happy new year guys!!!

Yes Ca Will not issue a license without SSN and you can not get that until in the US with a valid work permit/GC

You can look for an employer if on vacation in the US but you will not be able to stay and work. There is currently retrogression in progress (been ongoing since 2006) and no idea when it will change but no visas to change your status. You can not work without a license or valid work permit.

I strongly advise you to have a good read in the International forum as much has been written on both California and etrogression

Coming to the US with the tourist visa with the idea of remaining is not a good idea as there are no visas available at this time and we do not expect it to open up for a few years. There is no job that you can do legally without a visa that will permit you to work.

CA does not issue a license without a SSN#, and you cannot get that until you have been thru the immigration process and have arrived in the US ready to begin work. Your passing letter is only good for three years and we expect it to be about five years for you to even have a chance at a visa to work in the US.

You did not apply for the NCLEX exam, you applied for licensure in the state of CA; there is no way to apply for that exam.

I would recommend having a good read here before doing anything else. There is much information that you need to know.
