I just got a letter from the CA BON telling me that I don't meet the requierement for licensure as a RN. Nothing else, no explanation. I called the board and they told me they couldn't give more info about this and advised me to show my transcript in a accredited nursing school. I did it and they don't understand either where is the problem. I got my nursing training in Belgium 5 years ago.
How can I find out what's wrong?
Am I eligible to apply as a lvn instead?
Anybody in the same scenario?
I'm kind of lost (and furious... ggrrrrr)
Merry Christmas to all!!!

How many years was your curriculum? Do you have an equivalent of a BS degree in nursing?
One suggestion is to submit your documents for the Visa Screen Certificate, itf you pass that, then there is no problem and you can get licensed in another state then endorse. I do not recommend for anyone to get initial licensure in CA as they will not issue you a license until you have received a SSN#.
Hi and thank you for your suggestions.
To give you more info, I have a ssn#, permanent green card, visa, background checked, TOEFL. I've been living in California for 3 years now. I have an ADN with 2 years working experience in my country.
I don't if the problem is my grade or the hour requierement. I plan to show my transcript to another college to see what they think about this situation.
Or maybe I should apply in another state and endorsed in Ca later, like you proposed.

Was your ADN done in the US or another country? If another country, that is where your problem is, the US requires that you be a "professional nurse" in your country.
The US requires that foreign trained nurses have the equivalent of a BSN. If you attended nursing college in the US, then the ADN is acceptable.
So maybe that's the problem. I have an ADN from Belgium, not from a U.S. college. :angryfire
Then do you think I have a chance to get a lvn license?
Anyways, thank you very very much for your help.
