Hey everyone! I got my results today and Im so happy to tell you that I PASSED NCLEX. hehehe I am so happy and i am still in cloud9 right now. I took my NClex last June7 in Hongkong, and the computer stopped at 75. I cant believe its over, after my local board here in the Philippines. my CGFNS and IELTS and now, I can already call myself a US-RN! hehehe
My NCLEX test was kinda OK. To tell you, my knowledge from CGFNS really helped a lot, but NCLEX is different in more ways than one. Clearly, NCLEX was more on application than CGFNS which is more knowledge based.
In my NCLEX, eventhough it stopped at 75, I was tested in all areas of nursing, from Maternal and Child to Psych to Nursing Management and Leadership, Med-Surg and of course Pharma! I did have a lot of Pharma Questions and some of them, they didnt give the Generic name, they gave the brand name outright which is "challenging" for me knowing that I am not familiar with it AT ALL because I am from another country. I have questions on Prioritization, and then about Proper room assignment, questions about delegation also did appear and infection control. Questions about "Correct Health Teaching", "Patients response about correct health teaching" also came out. Questions about what "You are going to expect when you see your patient with a certain disease", Triage nursing, Select all that apply also was a part of my test. I didnt have any Math Questions, THANK GOD but I did answer a LOT of questions about Meds.
My advice to all of you who are still preparing for NCLEX is DO NOT underestimate the exam. Prepare as much as you can, Bring out the best in you, put in mind that YOU CAN MAKE IT! Read your books, ESPECIALLY Saunders Comprehensive book by Linda Anne Silvestri. Fill your mind with the knowledge about every diseases, know the normal values and all that. Answer every practice question from your book, both the right and wrong answers. After you are done with the Comprehensive book, Shift to the Saunders Q&A book and then to CD when you are done with the book. I tell you, most of the questions in NCLEX are very TRICKY, but then again, if you have a good knowledge, no matter what, You can NEVER be tricked! hehehe Do not be too nervous when you encounter WORDY Questions when they appear in your test, just read and understand the question and answer it the best that you can.
It is very important for you to have a GOOD NIGHT SLEEP before NCLEX, do your usual routine in the morning when you wake up on NCLEX day. Have a very Good Breakfast or Lunch! I did have McDonalds for breakfast (Egg McMuffin Meal plus Hash Brown and Coffee) before I sat on NCLEX. One reason I had it for breakfast is that, I usually spend 4-5 hours a day at McDonalds while I was preparing for NCLEX and I have noticed that that McDonalds meal increases my concentration big time! hehehehe (crazy huh??)
When you sit on NCLEX, do not forget to breath and pls pls pls RELAX! Put it mind that you can pass NCLEX!
I would like to thank Suzanne BIG TIME because her study program was really a GREAT HELP!
I wish you good luck in your exam, and i just would like to share a passage from Matt 21:22 which says: "You can get anything- anything you ask for in prayer-if you believe."
Thank you Lord! :)
