  1. not conjecturing just relating what happened to me,,,but thank you for your advice callioter3 God Bless
  2. i am an RN LMT in Florida and this happened to me as well when i was working as an LMT while going to nursing school. NO problems in getting my nursing license, and im real careful to physically view a massage est lic now before working as an LMT in there est. hope this helps ya ;-}
  3. Yes, brilliant, I will be in class with you Tweety, getting my MSN and teaching part time that would be very rewarding and much less stressfull.
  4. Hallelujah to that. How many times have I wanted to do that with the people who call me at 1200, 1300 etc. etc. It is the same people who habitually do it knowing that I am sleeping. They deserve it but I just cant be that cruel.
  5. We have it, and it is a valuable source of communication when it is utilized. Love it.:icon_razz:
  6. The hospital that I work for that does not scan meds requires the signature of yourself and a 2nd RN to verify dose, type and expiration date. The other hospital that I work for in town scans all meds for accuracy and they are more flexible about the dbl checks leaving it to the discretion of the RN
  7. amen and amen. The rewards seem so few at times, but the simple blessings of gratitude from patients, families and your fellow team members when you help them through a troubling shift far outweigh the hardships and stress.
  8. :cheers: Congra:cheers: tulations Echota, RN.
  9. I have always worked night shift, work being the operative word here...all night shifters do not sleep. I really think it is a very individual thing because everyone/nurse is different, what is good for one might be lousy for another. I have hypotension so I guess if my b/p goes higher at night then I almost normalize, which is one reason I love it. Although it does reek havoc w/ your sleep schedule, my first day off this week is slept for nearly the 1st 24hrs and the second night that I had off I was up from 7p until now 7a, who know when I will sleep. I have noticed a considerable weight gain that I could definately do without also. Being an oncology nurse, leukemic pt's mostly they are up all hrs of the night; recieving chemo, nauseated and puking or just trying to work through the psychological aspects of their disease. I find the night shift gives me a lot of quality time that I can sit down with them or comfort them when they are so sick from high dose chemo.
  10. wellbutrin BID, only thing that works for me.
  11. Good advice, find somewhere where you get the support that you need and that you will be more appreciated. You should be able to look forward to going to work not dread it. Find a hospital that has good c.e. available and that will nurture your growth. my prayers are with you on your journey. ons
  12. index Thanks for the info, this internet site rocks, i am going to definately buy the book. ons:monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance:
  13. Hello and welcome to allnurses happybody, I am a RN, LMT. I was a LMT long before I was an RN. I continue to do massage but more as a sideline. Nursing is better insofar as insurance for yourself and not having to do as much accounting. You can also use a lot of the same tax write offs concommitantly, augmenting any massage practice that you profit from. A lot of LMT's make the transition to RN smoothly. Your fellow nurses will adore you for those end of shift shoulder massages. Do you follow any MFR, w/ J.B. in Colorodo? feel free to pm me any time warmly, ONS
  14. reporting for sound-off. I work the night shift. I don't smoke, I have never napped, ever. If someone cannot stay awake at night, then they should work the day shift.
  15. congratulations RN:nuke:
