What advice do you want?

If you look under my previous thread thinking about gooing for LPN (something like that)..it asks alot lol..just so I dont have to retype. Mostly though what do LPNs really do, places of work, rate of pay, and are there jobs out there? Im concerned financially (I have to see if I can get financial aid), as well as the scheduling and if it will interfere with work. I still have to try again to get a hold of ppl at college. Someone on this website..goes to the college I went to b4 but is actually in PN program and she says it completely unorganized GREAT! So now Im even more confused! The program directoe of the LPN is same as Medical Assistant that I graduated from in Dec 2010. Thats prob why!!!! Unfair but certain programs get everything! Hopefully she and others have or will complain to higher ups! They were told students arent allowewd to complain to teachers about other teacher..wow. Shouldnt have to be worrying about this! That school is expensive to! Just that I liked that the college was close and I already attended it. I dont have my own vehicle which makes it harder...just even more confused!

LPN's do everything an RN does except that we do not push meds in an IV line, or make the initial care plan for the pt. We work mainly in LTC's or clinics, and RN's work in hospitals. As far as pay goes, it depends on your state. Here in CA, they start LPN's anywhere between $26-$30 an hr depending on where you work.

HTH!

Thanks for responding...yeah I would really like to talk to the program director to get a better idea. I dont know how accurate it is but the lady in career center said $15-$16.75 starting out. I make $14.29 as a unit clerk just starting...so more of a pay increase the better! The thing about my current job who knows how long Id have to wait to get full time. Think unit clerks max out a $17 something . Hopefully things can go smoothly for once and work out for the best! Oh yeah are you working as an LPN yet? Just trying to get an idea of how your day goes.

no I am still in school. why not volunteer somewhere where LPN's work to see the day in the life of an LPN. For me there was no question about what I wanted to do. I want to go on to get my RN, but going for the LVN first b/c it is easier to bridge into an RN program here in CA than straight applying.
