I just want the letter!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Is anyone else on here going insane? I'm checking my email obsessively and, still, no letter! Everyone is telling me not worry, blah. It is unavoidable. My GPA and TEAS score were above average, but not enough to make me not worry about getting accepted. On top of all of that, I cannot find any info as to what the first semester will look like in my program. We live in Texas but will be moving to TN a couple weeks before the semester starts. Therefore, I know absolutely NO ONE who has gone to this school. What are you all doing to make this time pass more quickly? I will hear by June 15, but that seems like it will never get here!!

Thanks everyone!! I am hoping to get it tomorrow. I would just call them, but they specifically say they will release no information over the phone. :yuck: At least it isn't like other programs and not letting people know until a few weeks before the semester starts.

Specializes in Critical Care/MICU.

Seems like your In the game Hun! Your grades are great.

I JUST GOT THE LETTER!!!!!!!!! I was accepted, WOOHOO!!!! Thank you guys for listening to my anxiety driven babble!!! EEEEEEEEEE I'm so excited!!!!! May the odds ever be in my favour :roflmao:

Congrats Ruby! That's awesome, still have another month of waiting over here. Hopefully it goes quickly!

Hopefully you get it sooner! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks! I have every toe and finger crossed hoping. I was a point below the average on my teas, but my gap was above. Have no idea how it's going to play out, just have to wait and see :***:

Specializes in ICU.

I was hoping today, but no dice. It should definitely be here this week. I am over waiting. Lol.

I understand how you are feeling! I actually got texted from a fellow classmate that she had received her congratulatory email the week before. I was stunned, devastated and mad! I had a higher TEAS test score and a higher GPA than my classmate! I was so confused as to what went wrong! ...then I checked my junk mail. There it was, just sitting there. Had been for a week! I felt so stupid but relieved at the same time! Now, that everything is homeostatic again, I am SO excited for the fall! SO, the point is, don't let it get to you! I'm sure you did great and will get in! :D

That is awesome!! Talk about a huge sigh of relief! I cannot wait to get started! Did anyone get any other info? My old program gave me a huge list of next-step items. This school - congratulations, you're in - and that is it! I have no idea what comes next!!

Hi! I tried to send you (RubySlippers06) a message but I haven't posted enough on here to use the private message function.

I actually just graduated from APSU SON. It was an amazing experience! The professors are very personable. The class size will seem large at first since there are about 50 students but you'll spend so much time together, it will really start to feel like a big family. The clinical rotation during the fundamentals semester is very light, only 4 days (unless they have changed things) since you will spend most of your time in lab working on skills before you work with people. It will all be overwhelming at first but everyone there wants you to succeed and they will go out of their way to help you along. I highly recommend attending tutoring in the Marks building as soon as you start. It is taught by former students who were successful and they will guide you on what to study for exams. Also, buy a good NXCLEX book and use that to study for exams (Link below for one that I loved-great online questions on the evolve website). The format of the questions will be unlike anything in lower level classes. Also, I got all excited and bought a crazy cardiologist stethoscope. Total waste of money, just buy the recommended Littmann light weight sold in the bookstore. You can find a good deal for a stethoscope online too. Nursing school is expensive; look for deals where you can! Join the Facebook page so you can see what the school of nursing was up to last year. You should get a packet in the mail within the next month that has your book list, immunization requirements, and other information.

Congratulations on being accepted into the program, you worked hard to get here and earned it! Enjoy your summer and get ready for the next couple of years to fly by!
