I just waisted a semester of my life

Published

So I was going to Chabot in Hayward, ca until this last semester. I finished my GE and all I had left were pre-req's. I had finished bio and chem and decided that Ohlone in Fremont had a better program. Well, at Chabot I had been ready for anatomy, but at ohlone biochemistry was required first. So I went to ohlone and figured in the long run it would be worth it for the better program. Now it turns out that they rarely have anatomy or microbiology night classes and I'm going to have to return to Chabot. I could have started anatomy this past semester! Eesh. I'm tired of being a pre- pre- nursing student. I pretty much lost a semester but to look on the bright side of things, I really understand chemistry better now and not to mention... as of next semester I will be a pre nursing student! Instead of a preprenursing student. So bitersweet...:crying2::yeah:

well thats good. If anything good came of this past semester it is that I understand chemistry a lot better, so hopefully I will be able to make a&p a little easier on myself.

I think situations like this are actually a lot more common than many people realize. I won't bore you with all the details, but I actually got set back an entire year when I was taking my pre-reqs, merely because of mix-up communication between some of my school's advisors during the processing of my transcripts.

I took physio and micro together and got A's in both. I had anatomy and micro together for a week and dropped micro. I would not recommend taking anatomy with micro. Both have A LOT of memorization. Micro and physio have some overlap so if you half to take two together, I think they are the better match. I only bring it up because, unless you're shooting for a lottery program, you need the grades.

Thanks Keith. I'm going to try taking anatomy and micro and the same time but if it looks like its too hard I'll drop it and take micro with physi. We'll see how it goes. Thanks!

I don't even want to tell you how long it took me to get through prereqs, I worked full time and only took a class or two each semester. The most I took was three and I remember being so stressed. (I also was doing some of the GE requirements), but one good thing was that I was able to get A's and so when I applied to the CSU system I got into both schools I applied to.

Gosh it seemed like it took forever, but hang in there because your time will come. Chemistry is a class that you will benefit from doing well in when you are in nursing school (get comfortable doing conversions)

Best of luck to you.
