I hate to say this, but I think it's true.....

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I think alot of people are going into nursing these days because of the economy and the stories drilled in peoples heads about how nurses make alot of money for only a 2 yr degree. I can tell this by listening to students in my pre-req classes. Some whom I talk to don't have the slightest clue about nursing but they can spout off how much money they think they'll make when they first start out. I'm sure some of you on here will agree with me. I was talking to this one student and he told me, "Yeah, I'm going into nursing. I was a mechanical engineer and was laid off. I can't find work in that right now. Nursing is only two years. I made good money on my last job."

Take care of numero uno 1st brutha'. Can't be Mr. Nice Guy all the time.

Amen brutha, been there and done that!!! I was the charge nurse one day and was constantly having to bail out this other female nurse who couldn't carry her load and still can't. She had an obese male pt.(I didn't make the assignment) that she started refusing to help(His size was a factor). She started dumping the load on me on top of my other 5 pts.-It was so busy, I couldn't do anything about it at the moment. Make a long story short, I hung the wrong antibiotic on my pt. because I was so busy taking care of hers-I got in a hurry(Pt. was fine). I got two days suspension w/o pay because the family caused such a stink!!!:mad:I tried to explain to my supervisor what happened and the other nurse didn't even get a slap on the wrist! That's just one of many examples. Yea, I'd spend all my time helping others but nobody was ever there to help me....Gee, what a surprise!!!!!
