I hate being a new grad lpn

I've been to 8 interview but still have no luck getting an offer. I'm a new lpn eager to start my career but no one wants to invest on me hiring a new grad and this sucks!!! I'm so tired going for interview dressing up well, preparing and tried my best to sell myself yet not getting any offer. Any new lpn grad here having same problem like me

I'm a RN in Nevada and Oregon.. got a year in a half as an RN then I needed to move to California to take care of my parents. I'm a new LVN here.. even with an experience, it's too tough to get interviews.. I got 1 and got hired but not the best. still seeking for a better job.. It's always tough to begin I guess

Didugay why aren't you an RN in California if you were one in the other two states?

Sirena922 it's weird right? I got my BSN degree in the Philippines. I applied for NCLEX-RN California coz that's where we live. My nursing program got denied (which was unusual since there were many nurses who got their degrees in the Philippines) and was advised to do my nursing program all over again or take the NCLEX-PN instead. It was devastating. So, I did apply for California NCLEX-PN and applied for NCLEX-RN in Oregon.. In 3 months I got my ATT, took the test asap. I got my license then applied for reciprocity for Nevada. Got a job in nevada after that. After a year, I got my ATT for California NCLEX-PN. I took the test asap then got my license.. Now, my parents need me back in California so I moved back but now working as an LVN.. What's more frustrating is, it's so hard to get a school for me to get an RN license.

Im soo sorry to hear that! I hope things change for you!

Depressnewgrad: the unfortunate part of nursing that you don't hear about in school is how little real world training you will get when you start working. Hospitals are pretty good about training but it's not a guarantee. Long term care and home health will generally give you one day - if you're lucky! - and then you're one your own.

I've had LTC's have me clock in on my first day, show me the med room, hand me the keys and walk away. It was trial by fire in so many places. Yes, it's scary and yes you have the potential to make mistakes but even experienced nurses face that.

My best advice would be to take careful notes, ask questions, and jump in. Take your time and use your best judgement. You'll grow and learn and develop faster than you realize right now.

It's rare to find a facility that will do extensive training. They are too short staffed, too busy, and have too many patients and residents to care for to take more than a day or two to train. They pretty much expect you to jump on and go for it. It's not the best plan of action but it's the reality of the industry. Good luck!
