1. Can i take nclex in california?

2. My classmate applied in BON California last November and he received a letter stating he is eligible to take the exam, so does it mean he is really eligible to take the nclex here in california?cause what I've heard California is very strict in terms of nursing application if youre not a gradaute here in CA.

3.last December 2015 i applied in cgfns and its for BON TEXAS and last feb 2016 they responded to me that my papers was approved and met all the required requirements. Since then, I haven't send any application in bon texas cause my classmate told me to try applying in BON California since he got his "eligibility letter" and it gave me kinda hope that bon CA might consider my case. And what i saw in BON CA website that "BON CA is requiring a cgfns report, but if you already have they will accept it", so should i request in cgfns to send a copy of my report to BON CA? it will require me $210 if i send it and its non-redundable.

4. Has anyone of tried sending cgfns report to BON CA? What is there respond?and aside from cgfns report did you send anything to BON Ca upon sending the cgfns report?

Plss help me thank u

Thank you so much for your input. I will just complete all my requirements and of course provide legitimate documents whether or not there is work available in the US. I will gladly continue nursing in the Philippines.

Thank you Steppybay for answering my questions. I appreciate it. I will just go through the process of applying to CA, and provide all that is asked of me. At least I have an idea what is ahead if other options were to be taken.

I read some problems with BON Ca. Coming from the Philippines is quite complicated. If you look for other threads about CA, you'll see the changes happened in 12 other states. I think one of your fellow countryman provided fake documents from the Philippines and that's where it all stemmed back. I heard lots of Filipinos are on tourist visas and or marrying us citizens just to stay permanent in there. The immigration and BON are getting smarter to weed out those problems. I agree with silver dragon that it's better for you to be an RN than LVN. If you want to be sponsored then RN is your best route. Steppy pointed out good points too. I have some Filipino relatives too and stated that the documentation being faked are everywhere. It's unfortunate that one stupid mistake of one person affects the whole nation. I am not new to that incidence. Back few years ago, Filipino physiotherapists were banned from taking NPTE and affected other countries as well.

It wasn't just the one greedy person but rather seven that were caught and they went to jail in CA.

Here's the CA BRN link and thread: https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/use-fake-transcripts-929155.html

However, the CA BRN investigators had 134 individuals that were also being reviewed back then.

I'm sure that the other 14 investigators are still finding more selfish and fraudulent nurses today but also they were at last report still looking for the main person involved.

CA BRN is probably staying low as they keep with their research on finding these "devils" (for lack of better word for a nurse), I would never call them a nurse even if they are DON's or a manager or employee of the month or year today, they deserve to also be placed in a concrete location like the other 7 mentioned in the story above.

Now you know why the CA BRN suspects each and every application from the PH and looked at many times over and why they decided to enforce the concurrency rules (written in 1987).

Wow, there's more than one. Unbelievable. Well it's not only nursing that Philippines had an issue but as well as their PT few years back. All applicants coming from Asia back then were flagged for further scrutiny of their papers. Philippine PT graduates were asked to rewrite the exams and the incoming application were put on hold for further investigation.

After reading other links, I found more recent news/articles circulating with Filipino nurses having fake and forged documents being investigated in the middle east and UK. One nurse was even sentenced for life imprisonment for killing his patients. I wonder if there will be more news that will spurt out from other countries like Canada, Australia, etc. This is not a good outcome for IENs. It just affects everyone with these type of criminal acts.

Hi! I know it's been a year since you posted this inquiry, I just want to ask for an update regarding your case.

I am currently doing some research online to get advice on what my next step should be. I graduated 2009 from the Philippines, and now migrated in California. I applied for CABON last May 2017 and received a reply from them which requires me to submit my OR and DR cases back in 2009. But I can't comply with the requirement since I lost my personal copy and my university only began keeping the cases of students starting 2011.

I am now contemplating on the following options.

1) take the deficient subject - I already emailed the BON saying I can't comply with the cases and asked them for other options like additional units to make me eligible to take the test.

2) apply nclex RN to different state then apply for endorsement. But this is my least option since I will be required to send again new sets of requirements and fees without the certainty that I can endorse the license (if I passed) from another state to California without taking classes again.

I also submitted my application for LVN and still waiting for my eligibility.

Hi SteppyBay,

Thanks for all your post you seem very knowledgable. Well I have an active RN License from the Philippines and graduated 1994. Now I want to take the NCLEX-CA. What are my chances of getting an approval? My wife graduated the same batch as me and now an RN here in CA but initially she was credentialed in MI so she did a reciprocity, which took her about 2 months.

Any bit of advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
