I got into University of Florida

Published

I haven't officially received my accpetance letter, but the College of Nursing notified me via email to let me know that I got into the Accelerated BSN program for the summer 2006. I start May 15! I am so excited!!! :balloons: :biggringi

Congratulations Blaine! That is wonderful news, and I wish you the best of luck!

I would like to second someone's earlier post for some more clarification on the program there. I'm in Colorado, but am planning on applying to two out of state schools, UNC and UF, for Summer 2007. Luckily, I'm a former Gator myself, so hopefully that will help my cause. Also a former Seminole..so maybe not!

Any advice/recommendations/news on the program you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I too would like to know if they weight the GRE score the same as the other reqs or if anything is given prevalence. Also, if you have any idea on how many men, on average, they are accepting into eack cohort that would be great to know as well. Did I read correctly that your first semester in the Accelerated BSN will be fully funded by the school? Lastly, is one, if they qualify via GPA, compelled to continue into grad school after graduation, or can you leave and work with your BSN for a while?

Again, congraulations, and enjoy these first few steps toward your dream!

Congratulations!! I got my business degree from UF a little over a year ago and I loved it there. It's great to be a Florida Gator :)

I am not sure exactly how each thing in the admissions process is weighed. I would say to make sure your GPA is in the mid to upper 3's. I know last years class had an average GPA of 3.6. You have to make sure you get at least a 500V and 500Q on the GRE. It doesn't matter how many times it takes you to obtain that score. They only look at your highest score. Personally, I think the above mentioned things were what they gave the most weight to. You will still need good letters of recommendations and you need to make sure your personal statement is as gramatically correct as possible. I graduated from UF with my first degree (BS in Psychology). However, they advised me that previous UF students don't get preference over graduates from other schools. Yes, they are indeed funding our first semester this year. I don't know the male to female ratio for the incoming class. I was worried because I didn't have any medical experience (payed or volunteer), but I was still accepted. I guess if you have medical experience it can only help you, but if you don't have it and your GRE scores and grades are good, you should be fine without it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the kindess everyone! My admission packet finally came. There is so much I have to do within 2 weeks! I should have started my immunizations long ago!

Hey, I wish I had those kind of problems!

Congrats! :balloons:
