:dancgrp::anpom:i got the job i was hoping for at a ltc dementia unit the shift i wanted.Iam so happy this place is amazing in its design,(it is a new unit) I am so excited i go for orientation wed.it is like a seperate facility with a big common area and dining area and room on each side with a big courtyard surrounded by the building so noone can escape showers in every room no lifting all are mobile and use restroom on their own (with the occasional accident)
Good luck with your new job. I know a lot of the people I took my CNA class are still looking for work. It's not easy in this economy so I glad you found the opportunity that you wanted. This places sounds similar to mind. We have separated memory unit in our assisted living so as far as I know (I work outside of this unit on the main floors) those residents can move on their own as well.
:)well i still love it after six days straight. It does make me sad to see how alzheimers affects these great people but if i do my best to help them then that is all that can be done.I am learning so much very quickly on how to deal with them.
I wanted to say to the people that think c.n.a. positions just wipe butts that is completely wrong yes wiping butts is one of the many things we do and i am proud to be a cna as i progress my knowledge to become a R.N.(that will never be too good to do any aspect of a cna job):)
