Hi I was just wondering if you had any tips on anything I should be doing prior to January to prepare for classes?

Jill

Hey Jill,

Congrats again! The January schedule is pretty cool, you are in school 4 days a week. Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri. mondays you get out early, 9-12, tuesday thursday and friday your there 9-2:30. the days/hours may vary according to how much your teacher wants to cover in that time, but for the most part, thats what your schedule will look like. Your classes will be Nursing 100 (intro to nursing), Nursing 101 (Math for Meds), and Pharmacology.

In regards to your "tips for anything you should do to prepare.." question, there really isnt much you can do now except day dream about your days in nursing school lol, once you get your books, and have your first day with one of the awesome teachers, youll know where to begin. For now, enjoy yourself, relax and have a drink on me! Im sure ill see you around, a few of my other friends got into the Jan class so it should be awesome for you!!

Congrats again! See ya around soon!

Rachel

Hey Rachel

Thanks so much I appreciate that. I am tryng to enjoy the last few days of summer. I have to take two classes in fall the sociology 2 and anthropology so I can get them out of the way. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Jill

No problem.. take care and good luck! i also second you getting those classes out of the way!

Hello Rachel,

Sorry to keep asking you questions but would you happen to know when the break for the jan start is? I am just wondering so i can plan a trip for a family wedding i am just curious to see if i am gonna be able to attend. Since it is an away wedding and all. If you have any info I would appreciate it.

Thank You

Jillian

Hey Jill,

No problem at all. I do not know if your class will be the same as mine, but my last day of school was April 17, and i didnt have to go back until September 8th. yes i know HUGE BREAK. but not all students had a break. If anyone had to finish Antrho or Sociology they were encouraged to do that during that summer. But if you already took those classes then you will have the entire summer off..This is for freshman starting on jan ONLY. Junior level you do not have off the following summer. Peds and maternity clinical rotations are during that summer. THIS IS ALL DEPENDING ON IF they will keep the current schedule.

Hope this helps. If you want to make sure of this, call Pat Fleetwood, she can give you more definitive information about this. Take care! See you in January!

Hey everyone, I am applying to NEHSON now and I know they work on a point system. I got an 86% on my TEAS test and have 97 points overall. Does anyone know what my chances look like at getting in?

Bpy its been a while since a posted here.. But in regards to your question..I am not sure how the new point system works. When I started I know the point system was different. My advice would be to call Pat fleetwood and find out from her if you got accepted or not. Or you can always wait for your letter of either acceptance or denial. I know its late for this email LOL. So hopefully you already got your acceptance letter!!! If so.. Ill see ya around campus!

iiiRacheliii. I did get accepted and will be starting this January. DO you have any advice or anything helpful? How are the classes and the class load? Pretty much any information would help. THanks hope to hear from you soon.

Hello!

Congratulations on getting accepted! Its your first step! Your on your way!

The only advice I have for you is 1. get as many of the additional classes out of the way NOW. i.e. Sociology 212 or 233, and Antropology. 2. There really isnt anything else you can do LOL.. Except day dream about your days in nursing school.. Get some rest.. Your gonna need it! lol..

The class load is 20 people begin in Jan, and 20 people begin in May, then in September, Both the jan and May class will combine to form one class of 40 students. Jan is my last semester WOOOHOOO!!!!! so ill probably see you then, its a tough program so try and get priorities straight now, make sure you have time to study, make sure your job is aware you will begin the program, make sure you have adequate child care if you have children.

Your clinical rotation will not begin until September. In january(Freshman) you will have Nursing 100, Pharmacology, and Math for meds. then in the fall (Junior- sept) you will have nursing, clinical, health assessment, and pathophysiology 1. Its a tough schedule but you can do it!! Then in the spring you have nursing 200, clinical, pathophysiology 2, and teaching stratigies. Then that summer, comes the fun rotations, pediatrics and maternity. Then fall (where i am now..senior) You will have nursing 300, and clinical (advanced med/surg), then your last semester may..you will have nursing 302, clinical (critical care/ER/intensive care) then GRADUATION!! lol

Thats kinda the schedule in a nut shell. The teachers are great, but alot of changes have been made. Those changes will not affect your class. Take care and GOOD LUCK!

My name is Rachel, lol.. I dont think there is another Rachel in the school. What is your name, Ill look for you! Congrats again!

If you have any other questions ill be happy to answer if feasible.

Rachel

Thanks for the heads up. My names Nick probably one of the few guys that will be attending. I will be graduating from Temple University this December and starting right up in January. When they went over the pre req check they had points for every class so I think that I have all my pre reqs done. And although I didnt take anthropology I did take a class in the anthropology department so I think that counted. Will I have less classes initially because I have all the pre reqs done? How do the days in class work there? are classes from like 8-4 straight through or what? I'm just not sure what to expect and want to get as much info as I can before actually starting so anything really will help.
