I got ed money - how should I spend it?

Published

:nurse:I've been a nurse for a year now, and I have my first educational money from the hospital that I can spend for books, magazines, classes or seminars.

What do you experienced ped nurses recommend?

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

There are tons of resources out there covering everything from soup to nuts, so you'll have to narrow the field a bit. Right now your search terms are too broad. What really excites you? Is there some area of peds that really intrigues you? How do you learn best? That's where you should start looking.

I work in a small hospital, and like I said before, I've only been out of school a year. Our unit is called "pediatrics," but usually we only have 1-3 kids and the rest are adults, overflow from other units. I feel I'm doing well with the adults, but I still don't feel very competent with kids.

I love reading, but I don't want anything too dry and technical as I will be studying in my free time. When I was in nursing school, I got the magazine Nursing Made Incredibly Easy, and I am thinking of subscribing again and perhaps getting the Nursing Incredibly Easy Pediatric book. Does anyone have opinions on these?
