It is somewhere in the house, I know I will find it eventually. But what should I use in the meantime?? Is a $15 cheapie reliable for vitals until I find it?? ( I'm a graduated nurse completing my volunteer hours and im scheduled to go in next week for a few hours).
Please help! Any advice would be much appreciated!
PS: I called Medisave and they could overnight me one but I really hate spending close to $200 on a stethoscope that I already have (somewhere in the house!)

No need to spend that much on a replacement stethoscope that is not even lost but in your house somewhere (you probably have looked at it 10 times but it didn't "click". I do this often...)
If you really wanted to you could buy a $40 lightweight steth from Littmann, and keep it around for emergencies in the future. I hear it's pretty good for the price.

Thank you so much for your advice, that is an excellent idea. Hopefully I'll find a Littmann at that price..
You definitely should be able to! I went stethoscope shopping not too long ago for school and was deciding between the Littmann Lightweight ($40) and the Littmann Classic II se ($80). Went with the latter but I've heard great thing about each in terms of quality. People say the Lightweight is the perfect merge between student and professional stethoscope and it's affordable. I of course decided to be fancy. :) I bought a little $13 Sprague type stethoscope off eBay for times of crisis like this too.

Which did you go with? I recently lost my Littmann Cardiology III steth at work. No idea what I did with it. Usually I take it off my neck when I get tired of it and put it on my computer (C.O.W.). But, when a doctor asked me to borrow my steth because he left his in his car, I went to reach for it, and it wasn't there. Then, I couldn't find it anywhere. It has my name on it, but it hasn't turned up. Anyway, I was thinking of getting the Littmann Classic III instead because of the price. I'm a cardiac progressive care nurse (maybe I'll go to the E.R. eventually), and I would like to hear breath sounds, murmurs, and AFIB accurately. Not to mention N.G. tube placements and fistulas. Do you think the Littman Classic III would suffice?
I think Classic lll would be fine, on of my classmates had one and i could hear just as well as my cardio.
Btw, I didn't get the chance to go to any of the medical supply stores, so I went with a cheap Sprague from CVS (I had volunteer hours that very morning!).
And btw, I still can't find my Littman. I turned the whole house upside down looking for it.. maybe somebody took it í ½í¸ž
The Sprague is extremely good for the money btw. I can clearly hear heart and lung sounds. I think I'll keep the Sprague until I get my first nursing job.. :)

Check out the Adscope 603... I actually like it better than my Littman Master Cardiology!
Update: I found it!! About a week or so ago, in the closet, together with my old set of scrubs!! It was wrapped around the hangar and if i hadn't pulled the uniforms out I would have missed it! :)
