Hi all
I am from the U.K and things are a little different over there, so please forgive me for asking a probably obvious and basic question to everyone in the USA!
Ok - I am looking to apply to UT once I get all my pre req's, I am going to do the 2nd degree BSN as I have a podiatry degree from Wales - it is about 15 years old so I don't think I can count it as any pre req's.
this is what confuses me on the UT site ** Elective requirement: Nursing, remedial and physical education courses are not acceptable to fulfill this requirement ***- what does this mean?, I have not the slightest idea what would fulfill this requirement. it is worth 5 credit hours.
to be honest I am not even really sure what an elective entails, I assume it is something not related to your nursing degree? there is also a visual and performing art elective, it's so confusing! what course should I do.
this is a horribly worded question SORRY!! but I have a 2 yo climbing me so I can't concentrate

For your elective you can take anything that counts as college credit other than a physical education class or something nursing related like health assessment or gerontologic nursing. The two I took were public speaking and biology. Some people like to take something that will help them later on such as genetics while others just take a course that sounds fun and/or easy. The other elective is a fine arts class. You can take art, music or dance to cover it.

Just adding to the above post ...
"Electives" are courses that are not directly related to your major area of study that the students take to help them be "well-rounded, educated people" in the world. They expose students to different fields, different aspects of life, different ways of thinking, etc. They are "elective" in that the school does not specify a particular course you must take to meet the requirement -- you get to choose a course that interests you. However, some schools will narrow your choice down a bit by requiring that the course be in social science or fine arts, one of the physical sciences, or in the humanities.
Electives give you a great opportunity to explore something that interests you -- be it something related to healthcare or something totally different.
