Help me decide on a career! RN, DH, Rad or resp
I have a podiatry degree from the UK, and worked as a pod for 11 years over there. I have lived in TX for 4 years raising my family, my podiatry degree doesn't mean much over here, we are not doctors in the UK, even though we do everything a podiatrist does in the States, without surgery. I have a lot of great people skills, organizational skills, a very steady hand, I like to work under my own authority, because that is what I am used to, but I play well with others too! I have just started on my pre reqs, math and english, and I am having trouble deciding which way to go. should I be an RN - I know I would make a good one, but I have two small kids, so the hours may not suit family life - also at the rate I am going it would take me 4 years just to get my pre reqs (although I could step it up a notch) I am also considering dental hygeine - mainly due to the hours and pay, respiratory therapy and radiation tech. I would love some insight into any of these careers!

Math assesment test...OMG
I just did this last month - is it the compass test?, I failed high school math and was really worried - but it is not a pass or fail thing, just remember that, they are just trying to place you at a level where you are not struggling. I got 95 in my writing, 92 in reading and 97 in comprehension, and wait for it.....57 in math, so I got placed in basic college pre algebra, and I am glad, it is a good refresher course. I am doing ok with it, and understanding a lot more than when I was in school. before I take chemistry I have to go all the way to trig with the CC I am in now, but I notice that the four year college near me only asks for the basic math - so even though the four year college is more expensive, I don't have to take 4 unnecessary math courses and pan myself for each one, plus the time involved will be less. ramble ramble

Does this seem like an insane amount of prereqs?
I have been looking into SHSU's new nursing program because it is very close to where I live, it is a new program this year, and I asked them to send me a list of pre reqs - here it is! anatomy with lab physiology with lab micro with lab cell bio and genetics pathophys chemistry with lab nutrition developmental psyc algebra stats eng comp 1 eng comp 2 philosophy ethnic studies history 1 history 2 government public policy psycology communication fitness 1 3 credit elective that makes 69 total hours of pre reqs!! that just seems like SOOO much, and will take SOOO long, but maybe this is normal and I have been delusionsl!

one semester of chemistry costs $1000?
Hi everyone I was just looking at starting my prereqs, and unless I am looking at it wrong, just one class (one semester/4 hours) of chemistry costs $1000! does that sound right?, seems really expensive!, I have a community college but its over an hour away, and it would eat up what I would save going there in gas. Just wondering what other people paid per pre req, at that rate I will be spending $20 k on pre reqs alone!! I doubt whether I will be able to get financial assistance coz I have a bachelors already and some savings, but I am by no means rich. Another question I had was, should I do another class at the same time as chem, or is it way hard! thanks all

Anybody had a problem with World Education Services?
yes - they are a horrible company to deal with - I wish I had looked at the BBB rating before I handed them my $170 - they have an F rating, the lowest you can get with lots of complaints about them. They do not answer the phone or your email, they are incredibly slow to get your evaluations done, and they are terribly picky about your documents - and the shocker - THEY DON"T GIVE REFUNDS, this is in the small print of their hateful to navigate website, even if they don't get your evaluation done properly they won't refund your money.

I feel so stupid asking this but... (electives)
Hi all I am from the U.K and things are a little different over there, so please forgive me for asking a probably obvious and basic question to everyone in the USA! Ok - I am looking to apply to UT once I get all my pre req's, I am going to do the 2nd degree BSN as I have a podiatry degree from Wales - it is about 15 years old so I don't think I can count it as any pre req's. this is what confuses me on the UT site ** Elective requirement: Nursing, remedial and physical education courses are not acceptable to fulfill this requirement ***- what does this mean?, I have not the slightest idea what would fulfill this requirement. it is worth 5 credit hours. to be honest I am not even really sure what an elective entails, I assume it is something not related to your nursing degree? there is also a visual and performing art elective, it's so confusing! what course should I do. this is a horribly worded question SORRY!! but I have a 2 yo climbing me so I can't concentrate
