I am not a failure

I am not a failure...I keep telling myself as tears stroll down my face reflecting back on this semester. I am currently in my second semester, and although it should be an "easier" semester learning the basics and building my foundation for the rest of the program, I have reached a dilemma. I am not passing my fundamentals 2 class. I am most likely going to have to retake it. I still have 1 more test and a HESI before I make my final decision. Throughout the semester, I have studied with the same study group I always have been successful with, then switched to other groups who are helpful and still could not achieve the results I was working for. I don't know what my issue is, but these tests are really frustrating me. I get the hands on work in clinical, but the test questions are really not making sense to me, until I talk it through with my professor. I have gone through a lot this semester outside of school, and have been isolated by a lot of friends for unknown reasons (hence switching study groups). I am not looking for sympathy whatsoever, but maybe some advice on how you approached this class and words of encouragement that I can get through this. My cohort is the best group of people I could have been surrounded by, and the thought of being "left behind" really scares me. Although it is what it is, I have to accept it and work even harder.

TIA

Speak with your professor. See if she has any advice. You aren't in nursing school to make friends. You are there to learn and develop into a novice nurse who will practice safely. Maybe you just have to ditch the study group and study on your own. Try a new approach. Practicing NCLEX style questions and reading the rationales is a good way to learn. Try this book. PM me if you have any questions.Pearson Reviews & Rationales: Nursing Fundamentals with "Nursing Reviews & Rationales" (3rd Edition) (Pearson Nursing Reviews & Rationales): 9780133083590: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

Definitely don't get caught up in friend drama things. Not worth it. I remind myself to put me first.. see how my nursing class friends are doing and help each other when I *can* and have fun when I *can* but my studying and passing comes first.

The Fundamentals Success book by Davis has helped me with the questions but I need to do them more. It's hard to find time. You can search that title in Google. I found a pdf of the book that came up in my search engine right in the beginning. I don't think that's legal so just look at the questions and you can purchase the book very cheap ($5). I bought medsurg success also for $20. Both weren't the most recent versions but they're great still.

Everyone makes mistakes. You aren't left behind because noone else matters. You're right where you are in the process of possibly having to retake this semester but you're smarter now in what you have to do to make sure you pass.
