I failed the ANCC, should I take the AANP

Published

UGH! to my demise, I failed the ANCC today by 6 points. Dam health policy! I was wondering if anyone was on the same boat as me and opted to take the AANP. I have to wait 60 days anyway to reapply for the ATT so I figured I would take the AANP, cross my fingers and pass so I dont have to retake the ANCC (which the retest fee is higher too) Would appreciate any help...

Thanks

You should research what the hospital you desire to work requires. I have seen the AANP not as widely accepted.

Specializes in FNP.

I took and passed both. I found them to be equivalent. I have been looking into moving all over the country, and no where yet have a found anyplace that cares which body you cert through. good luck!

Sorry to hear you failed! I have failed the exam also. I will be taking the AANP next week. I hope it is all clinical. The questions on ANCC about billing and medicare and research really confused me. I felt the clinical questions were very straight forward. Good luck!
