when you get a letter from financial aid stating how much aid you will be getting does that mean that your approved for financial aid?? the reason why i ask is that when i go to the financial aid website and check my financial aid status it still says processed even though i've gotten a letter stating how much aid i'll be getting.

Did the award letter break it down by semesters?
My letter came from my college broke it down by semesters and told me what type of aid that I received. HTH
Ohhh and since the disbursement of financial aid doesn't happen immediately that may be why it isn't showing online.

Yeah the award letter broke it down by semesters. It said how much I'll be getting this semester and how much I'll be getting next semester and what type of aid I'll be getting. Oh when it says fall semester and spring semester does that mean that I have to go in the spring too in order to get the aid? This is all new to me and I really appreciate all of the help.:)

Yes, if you got a letter indicating your financial aid package from the school, then pretty much you're set :) It should show up online eventually and you can pay tuition and stuff. And if it's broken down by semester, then that indicates the allotted aid for that specific semester. If you need aid for next summer, then you'd probably have to go to your school's financial aid office and apply for more aid. I think you would end up having to fill out an updated FAFSA.
Oh, one more thing--some loans and scholarships require that you take and pass a certain amount of credit hours per year. I almost got in some serious trouble because I was one credit shy of fulfilling that requirement one year and almost lost a academic scholarship. I ended up having to fork money out of pocket and took a class at a nearby technical college while I was on summer vacation. So make sure you fulfill those requirements.
I promise you, financial aid will become easier to understand and you'll know the ropes after you pay your tuition the very first time

I use to question my financial aid too back in the day. It was always so confussing. I still have moments when I'm confussed on if they are going to approve me or not. I really get confussed with summer courses aid. The best trick to getting more cash each semester is to take more classes. Or take less in the fall and you get more in the spring. When they do the deduction thing for credit hours its just their way of putting more cash off for later to be placed in your refund check the next semester. It's so hard to be a college student these days.lol

Yep! If you do not attend school, you will ill not receive aid. And as someone else mentioned, you must be enrolled a particular amount of credit hours or you will not receive aid (or it may be cut) too!
