Question nurses. My family member just had major surgery and its been 1 week postop. His resting 02 on ra is 84. Mild sob with exertion. Dr is not a bit concerned but I am. I've been a nurse 2 yrs and have never sent a pt home with an o2 reading that low. Dr says its just a number. We do not know what or if it drops during ambulation because no one seems to care. And we will soon find out if it drops while sleeping! What's your thoughts? Should I press the issue? He has never had sat problems before. He had liver ca with mets. Partial hepatectomy and radical nephrectomy. He did get overloaded a few days postop which they eventually treated with lasix. He is still swollen as well. Urine output is fine.
