I would think living in Houston with Herrmann (sp) being located there that it wouldnt be too hard finding a OB/GYN or a Urologist that has delt with this situation. Here is ther physican refferal number 713-222-CARE (2273) and web site http://www.memorialhermann.org/locations/he.html
Here are some web sites as well http://familydoctor.org/717.xml
Beyond that being pregnant the less one can take the better.

Excellent advice and links for the OP to take back to the friend in question.
Yes, your friend MUST take any concerns to her OB and voice them.
OB is an area of particular concern at Allnurses due to the potential impact of meaningful, yet possibly, harmful advice on two entities. Only the woman's OB can make decisions in the best interest of the health of her and her baby.
We wish her much good luck for a healthy and safe delivery and a healthy baby.

my friend suffers from interstitial cystitis which currently is incurable (although she has heard that someone suffering from it went on long term antibiotic tx and it eliminated her symptoms) and she is almost always in a great amount of pain. she found out she was pregnant and switched from ultram (which she heard was really bad for the fetus) to hydrocodone (which according to lit shes read isn't quite as bad) but would like to be on a medication which is absolutely not harmful to her baby, yet actually takes away her pain.
do any of you have any experience with chronic pain and pregnancy issues? or maybe do you have experience with pregnant patients and hydrocodone use? anecdotal evidence we will take as there is so little real research out there.
she takes 20mg of hydrocodone a day.
