Hydration, the importance of

"Mum, I just feel yuck". "But I don't feel thirsty". Neither do I during summer but I know damned well if I don't drink enough fluids to maintain my BP I feel really, REALLY hideous. You drank nothing at all ovenight bar two sips. You know that you are both hypovoleamic and hypotensive. It's icecube time kiddo or it's drinking by the clock time. I hate drinking by the clock myself, but I know that it's something I absolutely have to do in hot weather and I'm not even pregnant.

The midwives who have been looking after you to date have never been wrong - please don't treat them like fools when they tell you to drink more water. They're on "your side".

"A Hydrated Uterus is a Happy Uterus"! LOL!

I swear it is a never ending struggle to get these women to drink their water. Like trying to nail jello to a tree sometimes. And I hate the old "I don't like water" excuse. Well honey I don't like not being able to take aspirin for a headache, but when you're preggo, IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU ANYMORE (well you know what I mean). Ack! I tell them to try to gag down as much water as they can stand and to drink gatorade if they can't stomach water. Sheesh.
