Hey all,
So due to a recent move (hour drive to campus) and work my schedule (roughly 20 hrs weekly), I have registered for two hybrid courses where only labs will be on campus and the rest is online. I will be taking both A&P1 and intro. organic/bio chem in the winter. I am not thrilled about taking hybrid courses and it is causing me a bit of anxiety.
What are some of your guys' experience with science hybrids?
Any helpful tips?
What is organic chem. like?
Am I nuts??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You are NOT NUTS! This is the way to go! I have two other degrees - got my MS in Psychology/Counseling entirely online many years ago. But then I am used to taking online courses and distance learning courses. The only difference usually is just being able to discipline yourself to get the work done on time. You can do it! :-)

No Hybrid courses actually good. I prefer them to sitting in a fulltime class. I also really like online classes. Both just take some getting used to because you do have to be more on yourself to study a little extra and pay closer attention to things since there is no class notes or instructor telling you what's important to learn and retain in your memory.
Thank you guys! I will definitely be sure to discipline my in terms of time management and not falling behind. But what worries me most is what you just touched on: there is not an instructor telling me what the most crucial info is. I feel if I do not have this direction, the material could be too overwhelming or I may spend too much time of stuff that won't be on exams. Speaking of exams, what are they like when online? are they timed?

I took A&P1, A&P2,and organic chem online ( not all at the same time of course) . Each class had a required lab portion that must be completed at home with pictures sent to the instructor. I found that the materials( microscopes, labpaq, books, course codes) were EXTREMELY expensive. There is a syllabus, with rigid deadlines and group participation discussions worth a portion of your grade. While taking tests and quizzes, your browser will be LOCKED down. Meaning, the college made is download a program where we were unable to open ANY other browsers or tools on our computer while we were taking these tests. The tests of course are timed, and usually lock out at midnight of the last day due. Most of the test questions will come from a test bank, and can be easily Googled. I recieved an A in A&P1, a B in A&P2, and a B in organic chemistry, all of which transferred over seamlessly. Make sure to log in frequently as your instructors can see the frequency of your attendance. Good luck
