hi,

my mom comes to this forum all the time and she says its a great place to come for help. i am using her name(i am not homeschool mom)...i need to create my own name and password. my sister and i are working a a paper together(we are both in lpn school). we are allowed to work in groups. there are a few questions we are having trouble finding. we have tried the web and our text books. can you help us out? questions we can not find are:

identify the 5 stages of maternal deprivation/seperation anxiety?

most common cause of cardiopulmonary arrest in the pediatric client(we are finding conflicting answers to this one- is it congenital heart disease or injury ?)

explain signs and symptoms of primary cause of cardiopulmonary arest in the pediatric client? (one question says primary and the othe says common-it seems these would be the same????)

what is the difference in causation of cariopulmonary arrest bewteen child and adult??? these questions are tied together???

what i think is this:

"the primary cause for cardiac arrest in children is a preceding respiratory arrest(cessation of breathing). this may occur for a number of reasons including drowning, suffocation, electrical shock, illness, poisoning, and inhaling or swallowing a foreign object "

any help would be appreciated.

i believe that is right, out of your cpr book,lol....and adults, i believe, is ashd....the maternal deprivation one, i cant help you with....are you the older or younger? just curious

i am younger..17 years old. not much into forums..lol...but my mom loves this one. i have tried google search, text books you name it. i am ready to call the teacher..lo...we have not gone over this in class as yet. no one in my class can seem to find this one. i love nursing. my instructor and teachers are great. but i have a long way to go.

the other answers we have figured out but still can't find this one:

lj. . .i recall at least one of your mom's posts very well regarding problems with an aggressive instructor. how has that worked out for you?

i don't know where these links are posted, probably on one of the stickys somewhere on either this or the nursing student assistance forum, but i want you to know that many of the links came from a site for lpn students! you should bookmark them because you can find most of what you are looking for in and among these websites.

Wow!!!Thanks so much. Yes I did have a pretty tough time with an instructor. She is not really one of my teachers but someone they contract with but.....even though I had a really tough time, I am only better for it. She made me a better nurse. And now I have other instructors and it is like cake. I do worry though because I found out most of the people that graduated from the same course last year did not pass their boards. I heard a lot of what they teach you is not on the boards. I don't do well on my ATI'S but I really do great in clinicals. I struggle in some areas and do really well in others. My Mom has been a huge help and supports me all the way. Its hard because I am the youngest and I don't even turn 18 till summer. I hope to find a good online course to help prepare me for my boards. Thanks for all the great sites.

i've been trying to find information for you on maternal deprivation and separation anxiety. i'm finding information, but nothing about how it is staged. i'm wondering if maybe someone over on the psychiatric or the ob forum might know about the staging of this. staging sounds like a diagnostic thing that a doctor would do and both of these conditions sound like if they are bad enough to be staged, they are psychiatric problems. maternal deprivation results in a failure to thrive baby. separation anxiety in it's most common form is when babies and toddlers cry when separated from their mothers. here's some websites i found on these two subjects:

you can get test preparation information from ncsbn (national council of state boards of nursing), the organization that writes and distributes the nclex, to help you prepare for what is tested over on the test. there are also nclex-pn preparation books on the market. you should already have one and be using it to help you study for your school tests. basically, the rn and lpns are tested over the same nursing information. the rn exam might test on more advanced icu procedures and concepts. the primary difference between the rn and lpn nclex is in questions about delegation, management, and maybe some on prioritizing.

Thanks I do have the Saunders Review that I am using. I know my Mom wants to enlist me in a online course after I graduate(Lord willing) so I will look into that NCSBN. I have a good friend that scored 98% on all her ATI's and was told she would pass but she ended up failing. I guess you never know. Thanks so much for all your help. I think the teacher thinks we went over that material in clas but we never did. Its not in any of my books and I have tried to google it but found nothing. I will keep searching. God Bless.
