So i just found out yesterday that i passed nclex and is now RN it's the best feeling ever. To finally get that load off of my shoulder. Sleepless nights finally over. Thank God!
First take:
I took my first exam mid December. I used Saunders book and the nclex mastery app. I was able to finish the whole book for 5 months. I was working 4x/week so basically i just read it whenever I'm off from work. Two weeks before my exam i cut my work down to 3x/week. Testing day: I finished the exam for about 5 hours and it was exhausting. I remember i was just answering the questions for the heck of it, i just want to get it all done, it stopped around 230ish questions. Right when i went out on the testing center i knew that i failed but still hoping for some kind'a miracle to happen but i guess if you don't deserve it, you won't get it. God sees your handwork and i know i never gave justice on how i should prepare for nclex
When i went to check the quick result and saw that i failed it was devastating. I told myself, its your fault, "you should've have", and a lot of "what ifs". I decided to quit on my job. I gave myself about 2 weeks to freshen up and forget about books and anything about nclex. Right when i felt comfortable i looked up resources and strategies on how to pass my second take. I promised myself i will do everything that i can to pass this test, i will beat this dreaded nclex. I did a lot of positive self talk.
Second take:
So i studied for about six weeks. I planned my study schedule and plot it to a calendar.
>I first used Hurst to solidify my content for about two weeks. This is a great online review, i just listen to it anywhere and everywhere. Even when i wash dishes or do some chores at home i listen to it instead of listening to music. I cannot do the reading anymore, i guess Saunders book is too much for me. I got an average of about 71-85 out of 125q on hurst q banks
>Lacharity for about a week, this book is great! I needed this for delegation which i didn't know is a big deal here because I'm a foreign grad. I scored about 70%-80%
>I then used Uworld for the remaining weeks, this is the bomb! The questions are very hard (maybe just for me because Saunders had easy questions) but believe me it will train your brain to critically think and the rationales are well written. I suggest to do the max questions and timed mode, that's what helped me because it's like taking the actual exam though i know you can't wait to know the answers right away, right? My total average was 55%. Do not get caught up with your score, please read the rationales really really well, understand the answer whether you got it right or wrong.
>About 5 days before my exam, before i go to bed i read the 35 page guide that is floating around here, it's some good random facts and mnemonics. The day before my exam i know some says do not study, but i just can't stand not to, so i chose some of my weaknesses topic in hurst and re listen to it and also review important lab values.
Examination day:
I only had about four hours of sleep, that anxiety is getting into my nerves, i just pray and pray and pray to God to help me stay calm. TRUST, BELIEVE and have FAITH. I prayed and asked him to give me 75 questions and yes he did. To my delight it felt like the questions were easy and i felt confident answering the test questions. I had a lot of Sata(around 20ish), exhibit(around 5), calculation maybe 2 and the rest prio and delegation questions. I went out on the testing center very happy(i already kinda felt like i passed) and just had tears of joy! :)
i owe to him(God) my success. I prayed everyday and not just asked him to help me, don't forget to thank him for all the blessings you have. This examination will not crushed you it will help you learn. Good luck and God bless future RN's
Philippians 4:6 - Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done."
